Lead In
1. Students will look at a word cloud as a pair and will discuss the topic of the lesson.
Presentation
1. Teacher reinforces kinship terms using a family tree.
2. Teacher reinforces occupations using images.
3. Teacher reviews connector – 고.
Practice
1. Students listen to the conversations and identify the job of the family member mentioned. (Listening)
2. Students listen to the conversations and identify the residences of family members mentioned. (Listening)
3. Students will read a family newspaper that has connector -고 and complete the chart working in pairs.
Production
1. Students will participate in a scenario-based authentic task.
Scenario:
You are stationed in Korea. Your unit is scheduled to have a semi-annual joint military exercise with Korean troops for 3 days. Prior to the joint military exercise, your unit has prepared an ice-breaker event to work more efficiently with Korean troops. You are assigned to a small group with which you will be working for the next 3 days. In your group, everyone is introducing themselves in Korean. Introduce yourself using at least 3 sentences that include - 고connectors.
2. Students will watch an authentic Korean reality TV program segment which shows soldier’s self-introductions prior to U.S.-Korea Joint exercises.
3. Post self-introduction on Linoit.
4. Present self-introduction to the class (if time permits).
